Welcome to Houghton Regis Houghton Regis is a small town with a population of approximately 17,000 people.It lies within the county of Bedfordshire and is governed by the Town Council and the new Unitary Authority of Central Bedfordshire.
The beginnings of Houghton Regis date back to Roman times and this ancient past is illustrated by its name, taken from the Saxon ‘Hoe’, the spur of a hill, and ‘Tun’, a village with Regis being added in the time of Edward the Confessor when it became a royal manor.

Following the Annual Meeting on Wednesday 18th May 2011 Houghton Regis Town Council is pleased to announce that Councillor Andrew Roberts has been elected as the Town Mayor of Houghton Regis for 2011/12.
The Houghton Regis Carnival was a terrific success with lots of sunshine! The event was kicked off by the colourful and energetic arrival of the Carnival procession on the Village Green.
